A Living Slice of American History
We would like to remember with thanks those important Founding Members who returned the property to the Weeks family.
In 1975, one year short of our countrys 200th anniversary as a nation, the Founding Members (listed below) of Leonard Weeks and Descendants in America, Inc. had the vision to purchase the property (which includes Samuels 1710 Brick House) that had been in the Weeks family for nearly 300 years.
As such they did more than purchase a piece of land with a house on it. They bought a living slice of American history. The land that Leonard and Mary Haines Redman worked and lived on has existed (with the exception of a short period in the mid1900s) within the Weeks family from the time America was a British colony to its present status as a world power. That the land has been in the same family and parallels the history of our country is certainly unique.
